Tim Burton recently discussed why Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis won’t be back for the ‘Beetlejuice 2’ sequel. In an interview, Burton explained that while he loves both actors, he felt it was important to move the story in a new direction.

“I have a lot of affection for Alec and Geena,” Burton said. “But I also felt like it was time to bring in some new energy to the franchise. I think the new cast members will bring a fresh perspective to the characters, and I’m excited to see what they do with them.”

Baldwin played the title role in the original ‘Beetlejuice’ film, which was released in 1988. Davis played Lydia Deetz, a young girl who befriends Beetlejuice.

In the sequel, Baldwin and Davis’ characters will be replaced by Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara. Ryder will play Lydia’s daughter, and O’Hara will play Beetlejuice’s new partner in crime.

Burton said that he’s excited to see how the new cast members will interpret the characters. “I think they’re both incredibly talented actors, and I’m confident that they’ll bring something new and exciting to the franchise,” he said.

‘Beetlejuice 2’ is scheduled to be released in 2025.
