2024 Indian General Election: Opinion Polls Predict BJP Majority
Lokniti-CSDS Survey Shows BJP Gaining Ground

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ruling Hindu nationalist party (BJP) is expected to secure a clear majority in the 2024 general elections, according to a survey published earlier this month by Lokniti-CSDS, a research organization.
According to the survey, the BJP-led alliance is projected to win 271 to 285 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian parliament. The main opposition Congress party is projected to win 148 to 156 seats, while other parties are expected to win the remaining seats.
The survey suggests that voter enthusiasm for Modi and the BJP has increased since the 2019 general election. The BJP's vote share is expected to rise to 37-39%, while the Congress party's vote share is expected to decline to 23-25%.
These trends are attributed to the BJP's successful implementation of various welfare schemes and its strong focus on national security. The survey also found that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a positive impact on the BJP's image, as voters perceive the government's handling of the crisis to be effective.
The 2024 Indian general election is scheduled to be held in April and May. If the Lokniti-CSDS survey proves accurate, it would be the third consecutive victory for the BJP under Modi's leadership.
